Ru Cha – a wild paradise like Europe in Hue

Hue – Ru Cha is the name of the only remaining primeval mangrove forest on the Tam Giang lagoon system – the largest lagoon system in Southeast Asia. This forest is currently in the early leaf change stage, but at this time it has a new beauty.  a peaceful beauty with a bit of ghosts.

We, the children who live far from home, come to Ho Chi Minh City Hue to study and work many years ago. I have been with Hue for a long time, however, on this occasion, my friends and I had the opportunity to visit and learn about famous landmarks and scenery in the suburbs of Thua Thien Hue province.

I have heard the name Ru Cha for a long time and have seen the images on social networks, but recently, the trend of organizing discovery and fun sessions in this place has become popular. Information from the predecessors, the tree in the mangrove forest in the Tam Giang lagoon system is in the process of changing its leaves early and beautifully according to the story.

Therefore, my friends and I decided to explore and learn about this mangrove forest which is considered the green lung of the eastern part of Hue City.

The destination is located less than 15km from the center of Hue City, it didn’t take us long to reach Huong Phong commune (Hue City), which is the Ru Cha area that is changing leaves earlier than every year.

At about 5:10 a.m., the sun began to emerge from the side of Tam Giang lagoon, the largest lagoon system in Southeast Asia. The rays of sunlight begin to creep through the sparse tops of the tea trees, combined with a little mist to create a magical and beautiful space.

Walking on the small path under the intertwined palm trees that form an arch, I felt like I was lost in some wild country in Switzerland; It’s a little creepy because of the cool air and the space is quite mysterious and ghostly.

However, there is nothing to be afraid of, because this is an inherent feature of a primeval forest, sometimes it becomes interesting for those who like to learn and explore nature.

Covering an area of more than 5 hectares, Ru Cha is home to thousands of ancient banyan trees, is home to many aquatic species in the lagoon and is home to many species of birds.

The ecosystem of Ru Cha mangrove forest is considered very diverse and rich.

According to locals, “Ru” means forest, “Cha” is a tree that accounts for about 90% of the area. The name Ru Cha has both a rustic, wild beauty and a mystery.

When coming to Ru Cha, you must go up to the tower in the middle of the forest, standing from above to look down, we can admire the panoramic view of the mangrove forest below; from the vast forests to the peaceful and poetic Tam Giang lagoon.

Here, the ideal time to see the scenery is early in the morning, when the sun starts to rise or at dusk. However, when you come to Hue, you can come and stay in the Ru Cha forest all day without getting bored.

Because this place is not only peaceful and poetic, but also like a cool air conditioner from the principle of heaven and earth, ideal to avoid the heat these days.

According to research, Hue people often liken the Ru Cha mangrove forest to a screen to protect the land in Thuan An sea, so when there are storms and floods, the forest is not affected much.

If you want to find a secluded forest space to relax and explore, this place will be the perfect destination. Especially in early September, it is also the time when the tea trees begin to bloom with brilliant flowers, and at the same time it is also a sign to inform everyone that the rainy season is coming.
